What is the IAD?
Iowa Association of the Deaf (IAD) began in 1881, one year after the National Association of the Deaf began. IAD has been incorporated since 1898. It is a state organization of, by, and for the deaf. Why did we start IAD back in 1881? We wanted to make sure the needs of Iowa deaf were met. We wanted to make sure we had a way to support and encourage each other. We wanted to work on issues affecting our education, our work, and our everyday lives. Iowa Association of the Deaf is an affiliate of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
You are more than welcome to join the Iowa Association of the Deaf as an active, associate or senior citizen member. To apply for the membership, please click for a form and print it.
